Our story
Honoring Tradition Through Bread
At Gertrudis Panem Vitas, our passion for artisan sourdough bread and traditional Mexican pastries is deeply rooted in family heritage. Every year on Día de Muertos, we gathered around our grandmother’s stone oven to bake pan de muerto, a beloved bread placed on altars to honor loved ones. In the early morning, we would enjoy it with coffee or hot chocolate, savoring the warmth of fresh-baked bread.
This baking tradition has been passed down through generations—a gift we now share with our children, siblings, and community. Through Gertrudis Panem Vitas, we continue to preserve and celebrate these time-honored techniques, ensuring they live on for generations.
Just as our grandmother taught us the art of traditional baking, we now expand our craft to artisan sourdough bread, blending patience, fermentation, and artistry. From rustic batards and country loaves to pan dulce and seasonal specialties, every loaf tells a story of heritage, craftsmanship, and a love for good bread.
Join us on this journey—where tradition meets fermentation, and every bite is a taste of home.
